Having moved to England at a young age it was challenging to find my footing.
Being somewhat chubby and having a name rhyming with "useless", I had a rough time throughout school.
After completing my International Baccalaureate I decided university wasn't the right next step for me. This was not just due to the bullying but also from having a difficult time learning with the traditional teaching methods.
Due to lack of a better idea, I spent the next 2.5 years completing a training program (in Germany) in plumbing, hoping that hands on work might be more suited to me. Switching from full time school to full time construction work was quite a shock to my system. I was constantly stressed, constantly tired and even started having anxiety attacks. Needless to say, this was not my calling.
This ordeal made me rethink my ambitions prompting me to go to university after all - embarking on a 4-year degree in 3D art and video games design. As this course was partly flexible I ended up moving location several times throughout the course, falling into a cycle from knowing no one, to making friends, only to lose them 6 months down the road. I was constantly surrounded by people, but I always felt lonely.
After completing my degree and having a moderate grasp of the industry I worked at a video games company in Guildford; starting as an intern and slowly working my way up, I became a technical artist. So I was set, I had a paying job in a company with friendly people - but something was missing. I lacked purpose, I was unsure of my values and that quickly turned to a lack of motivation.
At this point I was thoroughly stuck. I didn't know what I wanted, I didn't know what there was; all I knew was that something needed to change. This is when I discovered coaching.
Why I Coach?
Having worked in different industries throughout my life, I finally realised that one of the most important things to me in life is happiness. Whether you experience that through your profession, relationships or any other means, I see happiness as a measure of your overall mental well-being.
That being said, I immensely enjoy experiencing people around me grow and thrive into someone they feel comfortable and confident to be. This can be through letting go of the past, accepting unchangeable circumstances or even just through small changes in beliefs or attitudes. Using past experiences with difficult situations combined with training I've received from Animas, Coaching enables me to help inspire happiness in other people.
